DC Comics to Relaunch EVERY Title

Today DC Comics announced that starting on August 31st they will begin relaunch every title and starting out fresh with #1.  Perhaps the bigger news of the day though is that starting with the relaunch they will be making all comics available day and date for digital distribution.  If this new distribution model becomes successful this could spell the beginning of the end for the local comic book store as we know it.

Many people may say that digital comics will never replace their paper counter parts, but that was also said about the CD and the book.  With the launch of iTunes close to 10 years ago we are now at a point where the physical music medium is almost obsolete.  Then not even 5 years ago Amazon launched the Kindle and has steadily been overtaking the paper book market.  So how long will it take for the digital distribution comics model to surpass traditional comics sales, only time will tell.
